Monotype Imaging’s Edge360™ Technology allows application and game developers to take advantage of advanced textual effects in 2D and 3D user interfaces. Text effects include 3-dimensional rotation and zooming capabilities. Character clarity is maintained throughout the rendering process because text does not require additional rendering to achieve the desired effect. Text effects include:

• Zoom in and out
• Rotate
• Outline effects such as “glow”
• Fine-tune rendered text output to meet specific device characteristics

As an extension of our iType® font engine, Edge360 technology works on devices equipped with OpenGL® ES-based hardware acceleration technology. Edge360 utilizes the rendering techniques of our Edge Technology, allowing integrated effects to be handled in the GPU (graphics processor unit), freeing up the main processor to attend to other unit functions.
