Ascender global font rendering solution now shipping with Microsoft Office Communicator
Ascender Corp has licensed font technology to Microsoft that enhances the display of multilingual text in Microsoft Office Communicator. The Polycom® CX300 Desktop Phone is now shipping with the Ascender font solution.
Elk Grove Village, IL – November 16, 2009 -- Ascender Corporation, a leading provider of advanced font products, announced today that font technology it licensed to Microsoft Corporation for enhanced multilingual text display is now shipping in the Polycom® CX300 Desktop Phone. Ascender worked with the Microsoft Office Communicator team to develop a solution for displaying complex scripts on devices with low resolution screens to achieve optimal clarity.
Ascender worked together with Nuance Communications to integrate high quality fonts with Nuance’s T9® Output multilingual rich text rendering engine. The fonts and technology provide Microsoft Office Communicator with the ability to display complex non-Latin scripts as part of a device user interface.
The fonts supplied by Ascender enable support for languages and scripts including Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Devanagari, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. This provides companies with the ability to develop multilingual user interfaces in products for global markets.

Microsoft Office Communicator is a unified communications application that offers advanced presence-enabled features including instant messaging (IM), voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video and desktop sharing.
