Description
Imprint is a landmark typeface from the Monotype library. Crafted in 1912 by the Monotype Type Drawing Office, Imprint was the first face developed specifically for mechanical composition. This appealing text type was commissioned by a quartet of typographic movers and shakers from the early twentieth century: Gerald Meynell, J.H. Mason, Ernest Jackson, and Edward Johnston. The design was earmarked for the group's new publication about typography and fine printing, appropriately titled The Imprint. Modeled on the Caslon types of Frank Hinman Pierpont and the Monotype Corporation, Imprint gained widespread popularity, and went on to influence a number of subsequent book faces.
