IRA MIROCHNICK has spent nearly 20 years licensing software to hardware and software developers worldwide.

Ira formed Ascender Corporation in 2003 and currently serves as its President. Prior to Ascender, he formed Monotype Typography Inc in 1989 and served as its President until 2000, when Monotype Typography and Agfa’s Type Division merged to form Agfa Monotype Corporation.

Ira served as a Director & Senior Vice President of Agfa Monotype until 2003.

He has negotiated hundreds of software licenses throughout his career with particular focus in the areas of font software licensing and font intellectual property rights.

Ira is an accomplished entrepreneur with extensive business development, sales, finance and operations experience. He led the 1993 management acquisition of Monotype from its English parent; The Monotype Corporation and also sold Monotype to Agfa in 1998.

Ira is a Chicago native. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University and is a graduate of DePaul University.

When not working, he can be found near his home with his wife, three children, two dogs and his baseball glove.
