Read Me file for EOT Lite Wrap Tool
NOTE: This tool is no longer available from Ascender, as we now support WOFF as the preferred web font format.
License:
The EOT Lite Wrap tool is provided for use by font developers under license. This software is provided as is and without technical support. Any feedback, comments or suggestions to improve this tool can be sent to Ascender. Please review the file 'EOT-Lite-Wrap-Tool-EULA.txt' for detailed terms.
OPERATION:
Single font mode:
- With the tool running, select 'Open' from the File menu (ctrl-O or cmd-O) and select an OpenType (.TTF or .OTF) file
OR
- Drag and drop an OpenType file onto the application icon.
- License Description text (from the 'name' table), if available, will be displayed.
- Press the 'Wrap' button. You will be prompted to save the EOT file. An EOT will not be converted if the font has Restricted License settings in the OS/2 table, fsType field.
Batch mode:
- With the tool running, select 'Open Folder' from the File menu and select a folder containing OpenType fonts (subfolders will be processed recursively)
OR
- Drag and drop a folder containing OpenType fonts onto the application icon (subfolders will be processed recursively).
- A reminder regarding licensing is displayed.
- Press the 'Wrap' button. EOT files of eligible TTF and OTF files in the folder/subfolders will be created at the same location as the input file.
A progress bar will be displayed showing each filename as it is being processed. A log will be displayed showing files that were converted to EOT, skipped, or ineligible for conversion.
EOT Info:
- With the tool running, select 'View' from the File menu (ctrl-I or cmd-I) and select an EOT file
OR
- Drag and drop an EOT file onto the application icon.
- Information from the EOT header will be displayed.
RELEASE NOTES:
While both OTF and TTF fonts can be wrapped, currently only Windows 7 supports OTF fonts. Thus TTF fonts are recommended for testing in Windows Vista and XP.
