Ascender Fonts for DVB and MHP Standards

Digital Television and Set Top Box font compliance

Ascender is proud to offer Mayberry™ - an original typeface designed specifically to address the digital TV standards from various organizations including DAVIC, DTG, DVB, ISO, MHP, MPEG and OCAP.

Mayberry is a robust sans serif created by Steve Matteson with sturdy shapes for screen environments but retains the warmth and elegance of a true humanist sans typeface. Mayberry is metrically equivalent to the Tiresias™ digital TV font, which is referenced in the DVB and MHP standards, but with enhanced features for improved on-screen viewing.

Mayberry corrects errors found in Tiresias including the proper forms for t, l and dcaron accents. Mayberry also promises a better aesthetic experience by providing shapes which render better on TV than the Tiresias design.

Mayberry comparison with Tiresias
The above illustrations shows Tiresias (top) and Mayberry (bottom). Note the more open character shapes and consistency in Mayberry's design, which contribute to better rendering on TV displays.
