Fonts for Mobile Browsers

Mobile devices require a set of fonts to display web pages and HTML content. Ascender is pleased to offer a variety of font sets for use in mobile devices and consumer electronics devices to display web content with the best possible user experience.

Fonts in a mobile browser

Ascender offers popular fonts licensed from Microsoft, including Arial®, Courier New, Georgia®, Times New Roman® and Verdana®. These fonts can be found in many mobile devices, including the iPhone, PalmPre and Windows Mobile phones.

The Ascender team has developed a range of premium UI fonts that are optimized for rendering on mobile device screens. The Droid family of fonts found in mobile phones with the Android OS was designed by Ascender's Steve Matteson. The hinting (tuning the quality for rendering on low resolution screens) was led by Ascender's Tom Rickner, most well known as the hinter of Georgia and Verdana.

Any devices with a web browser will require a set of fonts to display web pages. There are five font families in the CSS specification: Serif, Sans-Serif, Cursive, Fantasy and Monospace.  Ascender can help recommend fonts that would work best for a device with a browser, from mobile phones to notepads and TV Set Top Boxes.
