Droid Fonts developed by Ascender

The Ascender team worked closely with Google and the Open Handset Alliance to develop these system fonts for the Android mobile platform.

Designed by Ascender's Steve Matteson, the Droid fonts provide optimal quality and reading comfort on a mobile handset. The Droid fonts were optimized for use in application menus, web browsers and for other screen text.

The Droid font family currently consists of:

Ascender continues to work on the Droid fonts to enhance the font family. For example, a condensed version, named Handset Condensed" was recently developed by Ascender. Also, versions named "Droid Pro" with advanced OpenType typographic features and are available for end-users to download at AscenderFonts.com, and for use in websites at FontsLive.com.

For developers, a variety of feature enhancements are possible, including extending the language support and creating new weights/styles.
