Custom fonts for the Palm Pre

Palm Pre - UI fonts

The Palm® Pre™ features a highly acclaimed User Interface of which the fonts play an integral role. Palm commissioned The Font Bureau to develop the a suite of sans serif fonts for the UI and also for print & marketing use. The UI fonts, named “Prelude”, were designed by David Berlow of The Font Bureau. When it came to programming the fonts with TrueType hints for the screen, The Font Bureau turned to Ascender. The hinting effort was led by Tom Rickner, hand-tuning the fonts for optimal legibility in the Web OS™ operating system which runs on the Palm Pre.
