Zune Fonts

The new Zune player features fonts designed by Ascender's Steve Matteson in the device User Interface and throughout its branding.

The Endurance™ Pro Light and Bold typefaces are used in packaging, point of purchase and advertising for the Zune player. Endurance represents a warmer and more contemporary approach to the Grotesque sans serif genre of typefaces. The Endurance Pro font family contains eight fonts and features an extensive character set.

For the User Interface, Steve developed a customized font that met the Zune's width and weight specifications. Screen size and resolution limitations were considered when creating this contemporary design which both reflects the style of the hardware, and renders with a high degree of legibility on the device.

Xbox Branding Fonts

The designers working on the original Xbox game device were in need of a font which reinforced their product identity and logo. An edgy, high tech look was called for in packaging, print, point of purchase displays and their heads-up scoring display. Steve Matteson (then at Agfa Monotype) designed three fonts used in the Xbox brand: Book, Bold and Display shown below in an Xbox game demo.

Lexmark Corporate Fonts

Tom Rickner led the Agfa Monotype design team in meeting the strict demands of Lexmark's type-savvy staff. The resulting family ties together the wide range of Lexmark products from the web to product packaging.

Lexmark's design brief was deceptively simple: Design the best new cut of a Bodoni style typeface for all corporate branding applications. Include Cyrillic and Greek scripts for multinational consistency.
