GUY MAYGER has worked in the arena of font development and production for the best part of 20 years.
With a keen eye for design and an analytical mind for mathematical problem solving Guy has worked with an array of different tools to develop high quality fonts in nearly every production environment including TrueType, ClearType, PostScript ® Type 1, Multiple Master and a multitude of bitmap formats.
Guy started his career in the type business as a draughtsman at Monotype's UK office. From newbie office boy Guy quickly developed his skills and ideas from designing more superior letters and figures than he cares to remember to helping to create the Windows core fonts.
From editing bitmaps on early Macs, to digitising hand drawings into digital form using the Ikarus outline editing system Guy has always been learning and developing new methodologies to create better fonts more efficiently.
In recent years Guy has been a frontline technician in the world of TrueType, working alongside Tom Rickner.
He has probably hinted more italic fonts than any other hinter and has worked with a large range of customers including Barclays, British Airways, Hewlett-Packard, Ikea, Lexmark, Microsoft, Nokia, Opel and Waitrose.
Guy lives in the village of Felpham, on the south coast of the United Kingdom with his wife and two boys. Guy is a very keen sailor competing at championship level, an occasional golfer and always up for a game of pool, "How much would you like to play for?"
