Bill Davis
BILL DAVIS has over twenty years experience in the graphic arts and font software industry. He has a unique ability to grasp technologies and their potential impact from both a hands-on and big picture perspective.
After graduating from RIT with a Printing Management degree, Bill worked in technical support and sales for a variety of typesetting and pre-press systems companies, including Information International Inc., ImagiTex and Multi-Ad Services. He also established a consulting and training business focused on Macintosh desktop publishing and advertising systems implementation.
In 1991 Bill joined Monotype Typography Inc. in Chicago and led the company's marketing and business development efforts. He helped the company market its world-renowned library of typefaces in both PostScript® and TrueType® font formats to the creative professional and home/office markets. Additionally he developed a successful line of consumer-oriented "create & print" software targeted at inkjet printer and paper companies for bundling with their products. Bill is the co-inventor on a patent (along with Ira Mirochnick) for edge-to-edge printing using a personal computer and printer. Bill left Monotype in 2004 to help start Ascender.
Bill's role at Ascender is VP of Business Development. In this role he has a variety of responsibilities including the company's website, marketing efforts and new products. This includes the Ascender Personality Kit software for Windows Mobile phones and the FontMarketplace.com and Ascenderfonts.com websites.
When not at the office he is either at home with his wife and two girls, or outside enjoying a variety of activities from fly fishing to swimming & cycling.
