Bruce Rogers Born 1870, Died 1957. Bruce Rogers was author, illustrator, book designer and typographer. He was a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana. He worked at the Riverside Press in Boston as an illustrator and designer, and later became an advisor to many publishing houses including Cambridge University Press and Harvard University Press. His Centaur typeface was first designed in 1915 for the Metropolitan Museum of New York's publications. Later he worked with Monotype to adopt it for machine typesetting. A 22 pt. version of Centaur was used in 1935 for Oxford Lectern Bible.
